We welcome new neighbors, commemorate civic events, and involve Orono residents and friends of Orono alike in the positive promotion of our beautiful city.”

The city of Orono is named after Chief Joseph Orono of the Penobscot Tribe. Chief Orono was said to be “always inclined to peace and good neighborhood… What the grand and sonorous name he bore signified.” The Orono Garden Club strives to purposefully support actions that honor the ideals of Chief Orono of peace and good neighborhood.
